“1:1” is a collection of thesis works conducted by five M.Arch students from the school of architecture at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2009 - 2010. Topics from this collection vary from “seeking a common ground between fashion and architecture” and “machines that store and trigger memories of a place”, to “interlocked concrete modules as a potential solution to Chinese housing problems.” These theses are developed through the process of making: producing full-scale prototypes in order to test ideas and improve upon existing scenarios. These thesis works were led by Professor Erik Hemingway during a year-long process. - This is a grey-tone version of the book.
