CONFESSSIONS OF A HOUSEHUSBAND is a comic account of the struggles, insecurities, and joys of being a stay at home father. It’s the story of a man trying to maintain his masculinity while carrying a pink diaper bag over one shoulder, and staying sane after having watched his two hundredth episode of Barney. It asks the questions, When can a stay at home father have his first drink? Is SportCenter considered educational television? And most importantly, can a wife respect a man who makes no money, wears flip flops all day, and smells like Lemon Pledge?

This book is great. It's funny, truthful, and an easy read. As a parent of two, I thoroughly enjoyed the author's perspective on raising kids.

While the author of the book does not give himself all stars, I actually do. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this! It was EXACTLY what I expected, a wonderful tale of a man trying to fill a traditionally female role. As a stay at home mom of two boys the same ages as the authors two girls, I know how challenging life can be. I, too, have a spouse who travels over 200,000 miles a year. I, too, at times have to play mom and dad. I, too, have the luxury of a wonderful athletic club to escape to. On the other hand, I am a mom in a fairly traditional role. I cannot imagine just how isolating it must be to be the only male at the pool at 10:35AM. I cannot imagine my life without the network of moms in the exact same scenario as myself that I have created. I cannot imagine the pure reality of the life of a stay at home dad in suburban America. What I thoroughly enjoyed about the book was how he broke each topic into a small chapter. It reminded me of Al Roker's Book on Fathering, "Don't... More > Make Me Stop This Car!" You can read 1 or 2 stories a night and feel satisfied. Me, however, I just dived in and needed to read the book start to finish. Which is why I truly believe this author deserves all 5 stars...< Less

I gave myself four stars. This book is funny, honest, sometimes a bit graphic and borderline offensive, but a good read. While many parents have the same thoughts and struggles when it comes to parenting, they tend to internalize it, or use their inside voice. As an author, I put it all out on the table. Please note: Reviewing my own work is not a common practice, but I needed a quick review to clean up a technical difficulty on an author page.
