Ars Lucis/Umbrae for solo piano

ByAlan Theisen

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
The title of "Ars Lucis/Umbrae" is taken from a chapter heading (“The Great Art of Light and Shadow”) in Umberto Eco’s novel The Island of the Day Before, which tells of the adventures of a 17th-century Italian nobleman. Eco’s chapter title, in turn, is a reference to Athanasius Kircher’s 1645–1646 work "Ars Magna Lucis et umbrae in mundo". The piece is dedicated to Lynn Raley. Performance score.
