Nov 12, 2012The author’s purpose here, admirably fulfilled, is to provide us with a succinct history of how we have been bequeathed by our forefathers “a very good constitution”. It is further shown that this constitution has been abrogated by the “despotic rule of the House of Commons, who claim authority even over Her Majesty the Queen ”. Albert Burgess begins with the legal codes of Alfred the Great, and shows how that through the successive ages, Charters and Bills of Rights have laid down the foundational sovereignty of the English people; and that it is they who are finally sovereign and not parliament. (Topically, only recently a politician stated on the radio four Today programme that: ‘Parliament was sovereign, and could do no wrong’) Albert Burgess is a Catholic who nevertheless has little time for the pope of Rome, as will be evident on several pages in this book. However, it is worth mentioning that Cromwell does not get a mention! That said this is one of those little books, which... More > leave a lasting impression in the mind of the reader. Its content is clear, instructive and required reading for all those who believe that our constitution is somehow fuzzy. A caution here to all who might buy this book – you may be left in one of two corners: that this is either a work of seditious libel; or that the English people should rise up as one, and reclaim the sovereignty which is rightfully theirs. Our author emphatically closes in the penultimate page with a description of the House of Commons today, that they: “are no Parliament, but foul and base traitors. We must like our forefathers, find the strength to overcome this evil. They are destroying a legal system and constitution built around the teachings of the Holy Bible”. One cannot but help think of the end of Watt Tyler et al. The argument is, that from the error of the ‘Divine right of kings; the pendulum has swung to the equally pernicious error of the Divine right of Parliament. When one considers recent legislation and the accepted diktats from Brussels, this little book will stir the spirit of every true Englishman to arms. Whether it will stir the soul of every true Christian to arms in the light of Matthew 26:52, is another matter. Either way a reading of this book, is I believe, not just desirable, but essential for a right understanding of just how far the English people have been dispossessed of their inalienable rights.
