The Italian National System of Innovation: Knowledge Intensive Performances in Europe (2007)
It is generally accepted that technological change and other kinds of innovations are the most important sources for economic development and for the increase of material welfare.
In this new context the importance of being innovative and moving together with the technological frontier, has become necessary for also in those markets traditionally considered as ‘technologically mature’.
The aim of this paper is to investigate what have been the dynamics and characteristics of the Italian and the European HT system in the last few years. To make it possible we will use that could be assimilated into those generally known as the “system of innovation approach”.
An integrated reading of the different sections of the paper, will allow a deeper understanding of the dynamics behind the high-tech sector, both of the European and of the Italian knowledge intensive system.
