I am Alexander Johnson's son and this review may be a little slanted but understandedly so. Knowing my dad for fifty years I still found this book to be very insightful and inspiring. The Author Alexander Johnson was the second born child of an immigrant couple from Eastern Europe. His story is that of hundreds of thousands of immigrants who came to this country and wanted a better life for their children. Mr. Johnson grew up during the Great Depression and World War II and put himself through college in the 1950s. He inspired his older brother to leave his factory job and join him at Brockport College. We see how both went into education and how eventually Alexander becomes a principal working for the Rochester City School District from the span of 1957 until the year 1990. He doesn't retire right away as he becomes the district's first official Substitute Principal and works for another ten years until the age of 67 in 2000. Since that time he has enjoyed his eleven grandchildren,... More > five boys and their wives and of course his wife Ginny. Read this inspirational book about a born educator and someone dedicated to his community, church and family!< Less
