This first book of poems has the unguarded candor and plain spokenness about her own deep personal thoughts, loves, fears and ambitions more often found in books by established poets. To quote E.M. Cioran - "one does not write because one has something to say but because one wants to say something" and "The mind is the result of the torments the flesh undergoes or inflicts upon itself." - I feel that Alexandra Adair seeks to air her thoughts, analyzing who she was, is and wants to be - and, in this collection of free-verse poems, produces some surprisingly sage observations from this young poet from a small town, who indeed has something big to say, but still leaves room to expand.
