The more serious, adult companion to 'Asenath's Tale,' 'The Stars Bow Down' retells the timeless story of Joseph in the elegant, Victorian style of years gone by. For me, one of the most striking themes of this epic poem is the meeting between Joseph and his future wife Asenath, a point so often overlooked and forgotten. In 'Stars Bow Down,' Joseph first meets Asenath as a suffering young child tormented by her cruel stepmother (who is no less than Potiphar's wife). Together, through shared experiences in trials and triumphs, Joseph eventually leads the suffering child to a hope she had abandoned all thoughts of, to God the Father.... and years later, to his heart. The depths of emotion, despair, triumph, and love are beautifully portrayed, carefully laid out and arranged like precious silks. To use a cliche, this is "the oldest love story never told." A must-read that will live on forever.
