The Glory of Being: A Biblical Journey into Abundance claims that finding our place of unity with God is the key to abundance. Referencing science, scripture and dreams, Finnamore explores how duality and differences have been misconstrued, explains a biblical perspective on oneness with God, and offers the life of Jesus as an example of how abundance is not a far-off wait-until-heaven experience, but a here and now, dirty feet and sunburned reality.

Oct 13, 2010Praise for: The Glory of Being: A Biblical Journey into Abundance Alice Finnamore weaves a divine shawl that hugs the shoulders of the Bible and revelations of the scientific community about reality. She points to the more current reading of Christ’s words as a tool for discerning Real Abundance. This book is not a sermon but a heart’s journey that begins with actual dreams and wends its way to a vision of the Kingdom of Heaven Here on Earth. She calls this a ‘New Family’ and shapes and moulds this world out of gratitude and forgiveness but mostly Love. Sassimint Grace
Nov 11, 2008"The Glory of reading Alice's book: The Glory Of Being" The Glory of Being: A Biblical Journey into Abundance by Alice Finnamore. Book Review by Jody Coughlin Alice Finnamore fought the good fight as the New Democratic Party candidate for Tobique-Mactaquac in the last two federal elections (2006 and 2008). But, campaigning is over for now (the 2008 election ended on Tuesday) and Finnamore is moving on. She is a psychologist practising in the Fredericton area. She is also a dream enthusiast, dream teacher, workshop leader, speaker and last but not least—a writer. In 2006 Finnamore penned The Glory of Being: A Biblical Journey into Abundance. The title suggests the book is self-help literature, but it is more than that. It was written to enlighten the mind and broaden the perspective of everyday people living within the limitations of an outdated belief system. In each chapter of the book, Finnamore tells the reader of a dream she had sometime in the past and relates how... More > her dreams help her find a deeper wisdom when she dissects them, item for item, and applies their meaning to everyday life. She also offers, in the book, her own interpretation of the Bible. (Finnamore was raised in a Christian home and is trained in theology). She practically turns the old-school ideals of salvation and Christianity on their head and somehow, through that action, is able to make sense of an old religion which, more often than not, makes no sense at all to many people. Her objective in the book is to lead the reader to what she feels is an ever-obtainable experience of abundance, handed down to human kind by the ultimate creator–God. Through various scientific and not-so-scientific explanations, the author opines that if mankind were only to challenge the veil (belief system) through which they perceive their world and their lives, great things could and likely would happen. Finnamore also challenges mankind’s choice to be regarded as individuals instead of small parts of a greater whole — small portions of the same batch, much like a single roll is part of a batch of bread dough. She illustrates how, once everybody realizes and accepts that the world and the people in it are all one unified body, a sense of abundance will ensue. Her theory is that God is able to provide all that any of us will ever need. There is always more than enough for everybody. And also, through that realization, a closer relationship to mankind’s creator will be possible and more importantly, necessary. This book is not for those who are unwilling to challenge their current outlook in terms of their religion, beliefs or lack thereof or how they interpret the Bible. Nor is it a book for those who easily fall into a habit of ridiculing people with unique perspectives. It is a recommended read for people with expansive minds who may be sensing some sort of new awakening (or perhaps reawakening) in the wind and are looking for a fresh outlook on some old theories. It is also a book for those who are seeking to challenge their spirituality (and their dreams) to find a deeper meaning in what seems like the everyday drudgery of human existence. If the past is any indicator of the success of the world’s current outlook, a fresh perspective might be just what the doctor (psychologist) ordered. Hats off to Finnamore for standing behind her beliefs and personal experiences (as outlined in this book) even on the campaign trail and under the scrutiny of the public eye.< Less
