By Aaron: I loved it! The writing is trim and to the point, which I always appreciate (I'm a fan of Camus, who writes in a similarly concise way). The fact that I don't have any constructive criticism to offer speaks well for the story, but I also identified with it for a couple other reasons. As a divorced father who found and lost an impossibly beautiful woman, the personal allegory for me is undeniable; my ex and I have a very cordial but cold and distant relationship, and I find it easier to think of her as someone else now and almost pretend the woman that was my wife is gone. Paging Dr. Freud, right? lol! The second extraneous reason I related to the story was because it made me think of H.P. Lovecraft, albeit romance is never the driving force in his stories. However, the style of writing - as well as other elements such as mysterious letters and people that exist in a "half-dead" state - definitely make me think of my favorite writer of all time. If you have never... More > read H.P. Lovecraft, please take my word for it and read a couple of his stories. Since you like horror, I suspect you may know all about him.< Less
