This is a great book for anyone to read who is in interested in learning the journey of a real Kung Fu Master. Its a great biography of Allen Chinn the son of Chinese immigrants and what it was like growing up in Seattle. He talks about his love for hunting, fishing and his love of Martial Arts that he shared with is father from a very young age and how he now shares this love with his own sons. This is his story of how he over came the roller coaster of life thru his love of Kung Fu and how he became the person he is today.

Allen Chinn poured everything in this well written autobiography! Not only does he talk about his walk as a Kung Fu master, but he also describes his walk as a father, husband, and mentor. With this in mind, he answers these questions: What are the best values to show? What are the life teachings to teach? What is practical? What is useless information? Allen beautifully describes his life as a youth growing up in the early age of when Kung-Fu and Karate were becoming popular. Figures such as Bruce Lee arose and a mysticism about martial arts was established. Chinn depicts his life as a child as not only learning in school but also learning the do's and dont's of martial arts. Through this, he was able to discover a personal style of kung-fu that became practical. Additionally, Allen balances his life between loving his family, caring for his students, and blessing his sons. Because martial arts is also a lifestyle, he is able to incorporate the moral values that any artist should... More > know. Between honoring his parents, caring for his siblings, and being a faithful husband, he becomes a perfect role model; one that is set apart from others. "Respect. Displine. Perseverence. Dedication. Desire. Honor. Integrity. Loyalty." Allen poured his heart, soul, and mind into this book. And because of all this, there is a passion that is seen in this book: a passion to show what it truly means to walk life as a grand-master. I would highly recommend this book to anybody!< Less
