WAX N WANE is a compilation of intimate autobiographical portraits. The imagery runs the gamut of light and emotion from the lens of a bipolar addict. The ingénue is both the protagonist and antagonist on this journey of escapism into the arms of self sabotage. Love, death, trauma, addiction, and mental illness are Amanda's most evident muses in this self revealing book. Enjoy!

I was deeply affected by this book. Never before have I encountered a writer so unafraid to explore and expose the darkness and brilliant light within us all. Blindingly honest and exquisitely crafted, I can't say I enjoyed reading "Wax N Wane", but I couldn't put it down until I'd read every page. Keep your eye on this writer. Let's hope Amanda Wallin continues to explore those places we're afraid to go, and that she shares that journey with us again.

“Wax n Wane” is not for the faint of heart. The poet expresses pain, trauma, anguish and regret in powerful, sometimes graphic terms. But despite the often harrowing depiction of abuse (both self- and other-inflicted) her supple & sensuous language, incorporating a creative and skillful use of metaphor, rewards the reader’s courage and curiosity. You’ll find here the title poem--a dizzying evocation of a delusional, disordered descent and dangerous rebound; a loving, sorrowful pair of tributes to a departed friend; the lyrical density of songs of love, lost and found. And, trust me, it’s hard not to turn one’s eyes away from the sickening loss of a young girl’s innocence, though the triptych thankfully concludes with a cry of triumph. There are a few light moments in which, say, we can fancy the travails of traveling cherubs. I look forward to more of these from this poet, as she applies her artful brush to a broader, and perhaps brighter pallette. Meanwhile, I strongly recommend... Painfully beautiful. Genuine & rigorously honest. The poet invites us and dares us to share a road with landscapes of ferocious barbs and soothing meadows. Fearlessly written fom experience, she taps into the deepest recesses of our minds & hearts. Not for the frail.
