Oct 15, 2009"A down-to-earth introduction to Buckminster Fuller's world" This book discusses the concepts of Buckminster Fuller using a vocabulary far more accessible than Fuller typically used. Many of the concepts from Fuller's landmark text "Synergetics" are discussed here. This book is marvelous, because it can be used to open up the concepts of Fuller's work to a far greater audience. Print and PDF versions of this title are available. It includes a new forward from J Baldwin and a new preface to this edition from Ms. Edmondson herself. I'm so happy this title is back in print!
Dec 31, 1969"A Fuller Explanation — reviews" Reviews of prior editions:"Working as Bucky's personal engineer for the last 3 years of his life gave Amy Edmondson an intimate understanding of synergetics and its potential for making humans a success on Earth. Her clear narrative helps readers translate the difficult Synergetics books into familiar language, making them accessible to readers unable to deal with Bucky's sometimes obtuse ways. Read alone, the book is the clearest available introduction to energetic-synergetic geometry."—J. Baldwin, in BuckyWorks"The classic interpretation of Fuller's Synergetics is Amy Edmondson's A Fuller Explanation. Edmondson opens Synergetics to the previously frustrated reader."—C.J. Fearnley, Executive Director, Synergetics Collaborative (SNEC) "A well-written, clear explication of Fuller's Synergetics. A much needed 'skeleton-key' to the magnum opus of the century's most brilliant mind. AFE captures Fuller's warmth as well as... More > his genius—a magnificent achievement."—Medard Gabel, CEO, BigPictureSmallWorld; co-founder/director, former World Game Institute "There has been—until the appearance of this book—no attempt to translate into conventional language and mathematics the full range of Fuller's geometrical explorations. Edmondson amplifies this material in a persuasive narrative presentation, with insight and sympathy for Fuller's intent to employ synergetics as a strategy for the survival of humanity. And she brings to the task not only the authority of Dr. Loeb's tutelage in Design Science but that of her first-hand collaboration with Fuller in the last years of his life." —E.J. Applewhite, collaborator with Fuller on Synergetics; compiler of Synergetics Dictionary "A brilliant clarification of Fuller's Synergetic Geometry that both simplifies and expands his work. It is a valuable source for understanding the universe and how it is put together at many levels. Edmondson has achieved a new level of synthesis in a book essential for education at a period of history demanding interaction between all fields of knowledge." —Anne Griswold Tyng, PhD; FAIA; Academician, National Academy of Design "After 20 years of seeing and hearing Bucky Fuller in person, I never really grasped the details and magnitude of his thinking until I read Edmondson's A Fuller Explanation. It was a wonderful and shocking revelation." —Spenser W. Havlick, College of Environmental Design, University of Colorado, Boulder< Less
