Beach & Country Guild, Rancho Santa Fe, CA. Founder: Gladys Hershey Irwin. THE BEGINNING – 1968 - 1988.
How often is an organization founded to promote good works still going strong after 48 years? Gladys Hershey Irwin did just that and more. This booklet covers the early history of the Beach and Country Guild of the United Cerebral Palsy Association as written in 1988.
The organization continues to grow larger with each passing year. This History was published in 1988 in a San Diego Newspaper:
“The Beach & Country Guild of the United Cerebral Palsy Association was founded in 1968, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Irwin in Rancho Santa Fe. Don, then President of the UCP San Diego, asked his wife, Gladys, to try to put together a fund raising group for the North County area. (See book for the balance of the story.) On Friday December 3, 2010, Gladys passed away in her 92nd year. She had been living in downtown San Diego, CA. Questions: email [email protected]
