The Story of Life/El Cuento de la Vida

The Story of Life is new creation story that strikes a balance between scientific truth and poetic beauty. It tells the epic story of evolution on our planet in a format reminiscent of ancient oral storytelling traditions. All overly complicated scientific terminology has been removed to make the book accessible to everyone. The story begins with a lifeless earth and ends with you and me. Because it covers so much, it is best read a few pages at a time, with time to reflect in between. It is a bilingual work, with parallel text in English and Spanish. You don't need to speak both languages to enjoy it, but if you are bilingual, you're in for a treat!

Is the story of Evolution only a sterile and clinical list of facts? Must we give up the ancient and sacred narratives, with all their beauty, in the light of the science we have since discovered? It is time to tell a NEW story. A story of wonder and beauty, a story of the holy life we see around us, and all the holy steps that life took to BECOME us. A story that celebrates the exquisite majesty of the world around us, but does not contradict the evidence we have of the majesty of the world that came before this one. Andon Zebal tells the story of life the way the ancients did it – through poetry. His work is a modern-day Creation Story, a hymn honoring the triumphant journey from prehistoric life to the creatures we see around us today. Zebal’s “Story of Life” translates well into medium of storytelling or performance art. I have personally presented it myself for my church as both a meditation reading and as a children’s story. Every church or social group that is interested in the... More > study of Evolution, or at least respectful of the scientific evidence that contradicts the standard interpretation of “Creation,” will find a real treasure in this book.< Less
