Leaving behind a career and beachside lifestyle in Sydney, English born accountant ANDY RILEY is lured back into the world of long bus journeys and hostels when girlfriend MARIA suggests leaving the nine-to-five grind and travelling up through South America to Colombia, her homeland. Life of Riley - South America is the engrossing tale of their 100-day journey – initially through Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia and Peru - armed only with an out-of-date guidebook, Maria’s fluent Spanish and Andy’s exaggerated boxing experience. Then the highlight…Colombia. Exciting and exotic, dangerous and violent. A country of drug cartels, kidnappings, FARC guerrillas and Maria’s parents. It’s a story of discovery, love, companionship and cheap food. It’s a story that will make you want to travel…

This is an uplifting book that takes you to an amazing journey thru South America. I enjoyed Andy's humor and his love for travelling becomes contagious when you are reading the book. I’ve been to South America but after reading this book, I want to go again and again. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a funny easy to read story for your next holiday or to read on the tube in the way to work.
