""Reflections of Perceptions", A Review" I meet Angela on MySpace by chance, which is a wonderful forum for Independent Artist. I found her to be very personable and worldly. She was kind enough to provide an autographed copy of "Reflections of Perceptions", a book of collected poems from her experiences and travels. Her passion is ever present in her poems and friendship. The books presentation is in paperback with a simple but thought provoking cover. The print is in larger text than normal for easier reading. The paper is light bond. There is no fancy coloration or decorations in the margins like most poetry books. The simple and straightforward format allows the reader to concentrate on the text. Fluff is good but words are better and in this case the words shine ! I like that. Many poems are written in their original Spanish and followed up with an English translation. The best of both worlds in one book for effect. I like that too. Now for... More > the soul of the text. The poems are wide and varied in subject. A little something for everyone, yet many topics may not appeal to all. There are several topics concerning medical issues and I was impressed by the depth and concern over these points. The book reminds me that of "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran. Its different in subject but the outlay is that of one speaking to an inquisitive student wanting to learn the ways of life. And this book is certainly full of the authors life stories and observations. There is also a touch of ancient Chinese prose in the shorter poems. They are powerful and to the point and I was deeply touch by, for example, Eternity-2007: "......Take my hand and walk with me until the end of time." Angela also has a firm grip on time and the relevance that bears upon all Men and Women. This woman has vision to be noticed. The book has a final section on simple and thoughtful Acrostics. A form used extensively in the Revolutionary Period before the mail system and Hallmark cards. Most were published in the local paper as personals to an intended one. Something that needs to be revived today. This book used for its best intent would better the recovery of many patients in need. Not all wounds can be healed with medicines. Sometimes faith and inspiration goes further than the bodies cure. If one was a medical professional, this book would set prominently on ones desk for reference. Its sits on mine. Cheers !!!!
