Whoever said life in the country was boring... Alicia's a smart sassy lawyer who won't stand for any nonsense. She lives for payday, Prada and becoming a Partner of the firm. Having shaken the proverbial rural dust of Drayton Beauchamp off her Jimmy Choos, she knows exactly what she wants out of life. At least, until one disastrous summer, she thinks she does. Then, stuck back in the village she grew up in things start to get complicated as she rediscovers old friends, Matty the farmer's wife with a passion for fashion and Chloe, the eternal romantic. As she clashes with her mother's favourite gardener, deals with aggressive clients and sees her friend's marriage fall apart, she finds that she becomes inexplicably bound to the village. However much she tries to leave it appears fate has other plans. Whoever said life in the countryside was boring couldn't have been more wrong; there's always a rural affair.

I was concerned that this wouldn’t live up to Shop Talk – which I really liked. However it felt like visiting familiar friends. The story line gelled, and because I knew all about the village and the people living there it made it a really nice read. Always a sucker for a ‘Mr Darcy’ romance – so am letting my friends know all about it.

This was unusual because there seemed to be three main female characters - but I really liked the way they interacted with one another. Nothing turned out quite as you would expect, but the story lines are good and the whole book has pace. Well worth a look.

I enjoyed this book. The mother:daughter relationship was definitely one that I could identify why. How many times has my mother just totally infuriated me! As an amateur gardener as well I thought the descriptions of the gardens were good, although not sure I'd ever be able to afford them.

Good to see that author hadn't lost the magic when it came to the second in the series. Definitely one for the girls - but if you like shopping, a bit of village gossip and are craving just a little romance at the moment then take a look at this book.
