Keeping children with special needs safe in the community is paramount to protecting their individual wellbeing, fostering their independence, and facilitating their acceptance by others as part of a diverse community. By increasing the independence of children with disabilities, we help them grow up to become more productive members of society, lead more personally fulfilling lives, increase the number of them who will go on to become taxpayers rather than tax-dependents, and minimize the tax burden created by those who will require some form of publicly funded assistance for the rest of their lives.
