In 1928 Klaas Kruit started his business Wallpapering and Upholstering and founded ‘Kruit Wonen’, a modern furniture business, that was leading In the Zaanstreek for years. Everybody in Zaandam knew ‘a Kruit’, from the shop, school, or church. Guided by the memories of three sons, a daughter and other family members, written down by the granddaughter of Klaas and his wife Annie, a lively image of this well-known Zaanse family was created.
