It is morally wrong, to varying degrees, for human agents to smoke tobacco, whether they are around other human agents or not, and whether or not the other human agent smokes tobacco. The action of smoking tobacco by a human agent is a free choice and it is also morally significant. Other human beings, as well as oneself, ought to be considered by the smoker, for various reasons, when they choose to smoke a tobacco cigarette. Through Daniel Dennett’s theory of free will, along with the ethical views of Deontology, Utilitarianism, and Care ethics, it will be shown that it is unethical to smoke tobacco cigarettes in any particular tobacco cigarette smoking event.
