THE ROSSELLI CANTATA, a novel [Thrift Edition]

ByAnthony Maulucci

A tale of vengeance forsaken inspired by a true story that made headlines in 1925. Born into poverty in Southern Italy, Salvatore Rosselli stumbles upon success in America after giving up the search for Gatto, the man who murdered his father in their native land of Apulia. Salvatore pursues him to Naples and then New York City. While hunting for Gatto on Manhattan’s Lower East Side in 1925, Salvatore meets Renata, a beautiful young woman from Rome, and falls in love. Renata agrees to marry him but only if he gives up his quest for revenge. He capitulates, marries Renata, starts a business, and raises a large family. Blessed with good fortune in the new world, Salvatore is nevertheless tormented by his vow to avenge his father’s death. His opportunity finally comes thirty-eight years later, but Salvatore, now an ailing middle-aged man, forsakes vengeance because of a strange twist of fate.
