If you can laugh at your ups & downs you will appreciate this book. It is a wannabee comedian's tumultuous ride through life. An uplifting story of how life's struggles sometimes make you stronger and funnier. It's the author's hilarious memoirs redux - first written in 2007 and now expanded years later. It describes his young days in Long Island City and his exciting career at People magazine, The New York Times and MMR, Inc. The author also relates his antics in school, his crazy friends, Army days, surviving cancer, dealing with retirement, and his experiences with several media darlings of publishing and television. If you know NYC, you will love the author's uproarious memories of life in "the concrete jungle".

By chashillock Dec 2, 2010 Wow, Anthony, what a great read. Once I started I couldn't put it down. "Memoirs..." brings back many memories of PS4, LICHS and later my own daily drive into Manhattan and the rat race. Mrs. Nagin, Mr. Brickman, Mrs. Mulvehill ... great recall. I also remember Mr. Taite(sp?), a very refined gentleman, always impeccably dressed he would constantly check his gold vest pocket watch. I was sure he was checking so he didn't miss his train. I'm glad to see that despite at times a challenging life, you've managed to keep that big smile and sense of humor. I remember that sense of humor at PS4 after one of our fellow students delivered a oral report and the teacher, I want to believe it was Mrs. Nagin, asked for comments. Evidently you did not like the story or disagreed so you raised your hand, stood and proclaimed sarcastically: "Great story, but what does that have to do with the price of eggs in Afghanistan? The class went into an uproar and i'm... More > sure I heard Mrs. Nagin... More > Report as inappropriate By Anthony Motta Oct 29, 2009 I finished the book last night. I’m sorry it’s over. Thanks so much for such a good read and for allowing us to share in your life and relive wonderful memories. I enjoyed every second of it...I love how you write. It's such an easy comfortable style and a pleasure to read. Again, thanks for the memories. Cecilia Misa Wesport, CT Tony, two of those 107 copies were bought by yours truly, one for me and one for Hal Wingo, executive editor of People, who is now living in Santa Fe. A lively book, indeed. Dick Stolley-Founding Editor of People Magazine Senior Editorial Advisor of Time Inc. "You magnificent bastard, I read your book". If this sounds familiar, you probably remember George C. Scott's ( Patton) quote after he strategically defeated Rommel in a significant WWII battle. Well I finally finished your book on my current ( the third) trip to Tallinn, Estonia and it was excellent. And I expect to be notified immediately of your future demise so that Carol and I can attend... More > Report as inappropriate By Jan 4, 2008 "re: your book" Hi Anthony, I totally enjoyed your book. It was both humorous and interesting and lots of other things. So nice to read about your wonderful family and the great life you have had. Maryann D'Arpino< Less
