General Surgery IMG Friendly Residency Programs List
We present to you the most complete and up-to-date IMG friendly general surgery residency programs list with full match selection criteria and requirements for these programs. This book is essentially written for international medical graduates seeking residency in the US. The idea of writing this book came from our insight that many IMGs every year don’t match because they don’t know where to apply. Most of the time, they end applying to programs that don’t have IMGs or those that don’t match their criteria hence they end losing money with no interviews earned. The information was gathered from program directors, coordinators, chiefs, faculty and residents. It includes Programs names, Programs codes, States, Addresses, Phones, Faxes, Percentage of IMGs in the programs, Minimum USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 Score Requirements, Attempts on any step, CS requirement at time of application, USCE Requirements, Cut-Off time since graduation, Programs offering couple match... Mar 11, 2017Waiting for the match day in couple of days. I don't know how to fill these slow hours. I will write my experience her, though not complete yet, but this my only opportunity to do so before I get busy after my result comes in. Am currently doing internship in India where I did my 2 USMLEs then visited the states during interviews and passed the CS exam on my first attempt. My scores are not that impressing but decent enough to earn 7 interviews. My scores are in the range of 235-240. Using this book was very rewarding for me. Lot of my precious hours saved when trying to select the programs that will invite me to interviews especially am doing 24 hours shifts in my current rotation. Its not easy anyway to figure out programs criteria even if you want to contact them they are also busy with other stuff during the match period. This book works great to help selecting the programs. After 3 weeks I got my first email then 2 weeks later the 6 other programs emailed me. I applied on... Jan 2, 2017this book is exactly the same as other book with a little different title! I bought both of them and lost around 40$. Do not buy both of them. even I tried to contact them and request to refund half of mt money but they did not do that! I am completely unsatisfied, and I need to get my money back!
Sep 21, 2016Am writing this review because this is my 2nd time in the match and hopefully the last. I can't afford it any more. I want all IMGs applying to general surgery to know the trick behind getting or not getting interviews. Last year no interviews and many rejections. This year so far 3 interviews and couple positive emails. I think the strategy matters too much. I don't think I did much different excpet that I did an extra 1 month USCE in vascular surgery on tope of my 1 month I had in 2015 and changed the programs am applying to based on this book recommended filters. I think programs to care about their criteria they set.
Sep 12, 2016I liked the contents of this book very much. My friends in residency told me to build up my application based on the programs which accept my criteria and to apply as widely as possible together with a back up specialty which I did. This book has all criteria that you need to pass the filters. It makes the job simpler and more efficient knowing that these are your chances out there.
Sep 10, 2016This book is mandatory to all IMGs who want to get interviews. I got 9 interviews last year and matched to one of my favorite university programs. My green card helped me somewhat as this program don't sponor visas but the other 8 programs do. My advice id apply on the first day of ERAS, don't postpone yur application for any reason. Program directors will invite you based on first come, but also taking your scores and attempts into consideration. Couple of programs were qustioning the gap between my year of graduation and the application time but I justified that with my studying for USMLE and doing observerships. Most of them undersatnd that we need sometime off to be prepared for this long journey. Use this book to create your list of programs that you meet their requirements then apply to whatever you can afford. The more programs you apply to the more chances for getting interviews you get. Am now in my internship, a lot of support here from the team and dedicated teaching every... More > day even on weekends. Residency in the US is better than any country in the world.< Less
