This is Dr. Aras Bishop Cox's Footprints on the Sands of Time, first published in 1900. It is his memoir of life in Southwest Virginia and Northwestern North Carolina, and later in Missouri. He was a physician, clerk of court for Ashe County, North Carolina, Captain in Company I, 61st North Carolina Troops, Confederate States Army, and Methodist Minister.
