Master Sergerant Hale is fearlessly honest at all times, documenting interpersonal relationships, office politics, ever-mounting challenges and pressures of a new position, all while experiencing long-term separation from loved ones, friends and family. Even without this crucial support system in place, his core strength manifests more each day, not only through his spiritual life, but his clear dedication to serving his country while performing his duties to best of his abilities. This story offers a "fly-on-the-wall" perspective to the daily routines and activities of our servicemen overseas, and does not shy from revealing both the positive and negative aspects of long term deployment. The loneliness, frustrtion and isolation he feels at times come through clearly in his sparse prose. He may not have been on the front lines, but his sacrifices (and those like him) should be in no way discounted. For those of us not in service to our country, Master Sergeant Hale's... More > experiences should remind us all to be thankful for the men and women who serve our country in all capacities.< Less
