With a recent doctorate, twenty-six-year old Joel Weiss begins work at the Super Proton Synchrotron at CERN, Switzerland, when an explosion sends him to 1912 and the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Having no money or relatives in these strange surroundings, Joel is befriended by a Jewish family consisting of Hyman, Sarah, and their eleven children. A badge, watch, cell phone, and pocket computer are the only items Joel has while encountering one harrowing experience after another. <br /><p></p><p> Mordechai Kuk, a slumlord, and his cronies Weasel and Hamhock, mistake Joel for a building inspector and scheme to kill him. <br /></p><p> Helping Joel is Rebecca, a burn victim from the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. For Joel and Rebecca, a romantic experience is just a moment of weakness away. </p><p> Joel must figure out how to return to his own time while fighting to stay alive without causing history to change.</p> <p> </p>
