I'm one of Mossy's daughters so I declare my bias! I loved reading this: I'd read and re-read various proof stages as he struggled to edit it coherently into book form, but this finished product well surpasses all the individual tales that he describes with such gentle humour and sharp insight. Thanks go to my youngest brother for being the one to take on the job of getting it edited and printed; I'm sure that the pleasure on Dad's face as he saw the proof copy on Xmas 2011 made it worth while. I didn't get my hands on a copy till after Dad's death in April 2012 which is a shame, as there is much I'd like to have asked him. He never spoke of his Army days whilst alive so this book is a rare glimpse into some very formative experiences - not only for our father but for the making of the modern world too. "Oi give it foive", and if you've any interest in historical warfare of WW2, or how West African soldiers were supposed to be well-suited for the impenetrable jungles of... More > Burma, or the inane inefficiencies of the British Army, I think you'll enjoy it too!< Less
