This dissertation analyses Moscow's responses to significant political change in Georgia, Ukraine and Kyrygzstan between 2003 and 2005. The experience of the 'coloured revolutions' still shapes Russia's current policy towards the countries. It was submitted by the author as part of an MA degree course in Russian Studies at University College London.
The author comments on Russian and Central Asian affairs for a variety of media agencies including the 24 news news Channel 'Russia Today' and even the Cyprus Braodcasting Corporation. He travels frequently to countries within the former Soviet Union region.

Excellent research piece. Very timely and prescient. The author resists the urge to simplify or sensationalize the subject, despite the obvious dramatic nature of recent developments in the region. There is a great need for more detailed tracking of Russian policy towards its neighbors, and Pirt accomplishes this with flair.
