Contrary to the way the corporate mainstream media depicts him, the late Pim Fortuyn was not Far Right. He was a Marxist in the 60s and 70s and 80s, a Yuppie professional in the 90s, but always reading and thinking and talking about social issues. He was baptized and raised Catholic, educated in Catholic schools before university, and he always identified as Catholic. He was proud to be Catholic and homosexual. He respected the fact that in the Netherlands, a democratic nation, a person can be whatever he or she wants. He was alarmed by what he saw as dangerous levels of mass immigration of people with radical beliefs from Muslim countries. He saw this as a threat to the freedoms that the political Left had fought hard to obtain: women's rights, lgbt rights, etc. For that, he was punished in the media and he has not, even in death, been able to overcome to label of being "Far Right."
