Into the Mirror: The Cultural Repatriation of North Koreans from South Korea

While knowledge of the physical repatriation of North Korean refugees from China has grown recently, the cultural repatriation of North Koreans from South Korea remains unknown. In this text I reference my interviews and interactions with North Koreans living in South Korea to uncover what this cultural repatriation is, and the methods that North Korean refugees have used to resist it. This text not delves only into a world unknown, but also provides inspirational stories of North Korean refugees striving for success even while having discouraging forces against them.
