In ‘Timekeepers of Fate’, Avery Henville succeeds where many authors fail. The novel tells the story of success, failure, love, tragedy, treachery and evil, with just a hint of the paranormal in the background. However, more than this, he has contrived to keep his characters and the plot firmly rooted to the ground using careful and meticulous instances of factual scenery and occasions. Operating across two distinct timescales, a century apart, and inevitably coming to an intersecting conclusion, he holds the reader spellbound as the fates of a number of families play out under his careful guidance. From a dramatic opening, we are hooked into the quickening pace of the multiple plots as Henville guides us with unerring accuracy to a dramatic conclusion. His success lies in careful attention to detail, thorough research, and a determination to produce a literary work which has the reader wanting more. For those of a certain age, ‘Family at War’, ‘When the Boat Comes In’, and a number... More > of other British TV drama series over the past forty years will resound from the pages of Timekeepers of Fate’, as the reader is drawn inexorably into the lives of those personalities created by the author. It is a book well worth taking the time to buy and read.< Less
