Jul 17, 2017I was fortunate enough to discover this collection at the perfect time in my life. As I flew across the Atlantic, I found myself leaving the tangible reality of Boston and drifting to the philosophical mystery of Paris- in perfect parallel with Ada and Avo's stories of metamorphosis. Beyond my own interpretation of this collection, these ten stories are rich with character and will instill in you a deeper understanding of the universality of compassion, struggle, and the search for meaning. Do yourself a favor and delve into the wisdom of these tales.
Apr 18, 2017These short stories were beautifully written. Poignant, thought provoking and at times heartwarming. Loved it!
Nov 28, 201610 Short Stories by Ada and Avo is masterfully written by a grandfather / grandson pair. The stories are short, yet incredibly nuanced and shed light into some very interesting characters and situations. The prose is magically constructed pulling the reader from one sentence to the next and one story to the next making it impossible to put the book down! This is by far one of the best collection of short stories that I have read and I highly recommend it to everyone!
May 6, 2016Thoroughly enjoyed this collection of short stories. Very cool to read stories from two very similar people who are still so different, each coming from a different generation with their own viewpoints and experiences they have gone through.
Dec 10, 2015Mr. Ghukasyan and Mr. Vardumyan have created something special in "10 Short Stories by Ada and Avo". A compilation co-authored by grandfather and grandson, it's lovely seeing parallel messages in the stories transcend the generations of their respective authors. I'm particularly fond on the interplay between Vardumyan's "I love you" and Ghukasyan's "In the End". Though each is stylistically unique, both circle around the same message of hope and how it can be discovered spontaneously, or through revelation. In both stories, the protagonists discover meaning and value in their lives as they confront their own mortalities. This is perhaps a gentle reminder of the fragility of life, and the importance of engaging with gratitude and joy before ones' mortality becomes immanent. Ghukasyan and Vardumyan create a rich written tapestry that draws the reader in with its unassuming parlance, that carries with it a deeper undertone. A very enjoyable read that is...
