The stories in this collection manage to be captivating while also stimulating exploration into the nuanced beauty, and challenges, of the human condition. Ghukasyan and Vardumyan's writing styles compliment each other wonderfully, and provide perspectives on the way that we confront experiences in life that give a sense of familiarity and equanimity at their conclusions. These stories all give uniquely affecting scenes that provoke thought about the way people interact, and the way we conduct ourselves, while somehow tying together into a cohesive and very captivating read.

A charming collection of short stories. Imaginative and vivid, the grandfather-grandson duo have crafted a selection of short stories that work beautifully together. Collections like these that span generations are always a treat, and it is so interesting to see the similarities and differences between grandfather and grandson. While stylistically distinct from each other, both have a sense of profound compassion and humanism that weaves through their stories, tying the collection together. While the genres range from realistic to postmodern to magical realism, the earnest appreciation for human nature that is present ensures the collection never feels less then cohesive.

I was fortunate enough to discover this collection at the perfect time in my life. As I flew across the Atlantic, I found myself leaving the tangible reality of Boston and drifting to the philosophical mystery of Paris- in perfect parallel with Ada and Avo's stories of metamorphosis. Beyond my own interpretation of this collection, these ten stories are rich with character and will instill in you a deeper understanding of the universality of compassion, struggle, and the search for meaning. Do yourself a favor and delve into the wisdom of these tales.
