By K. Changizi Even though I have worked in libraries for the past 22 years I have never come across a manual for hiring maids. This is a must book for those who live in Macau and Hong Kong or for anyone who lives anywhere in the world and is interested in knowing how helpers are hired. The author writes in in detail about hiring to firing, about cleaning and cooking, about baby sitting questions, and many more topics. With great sympathy and humour Azita Crerar touches on every aspect of this important subject. If Oprah hears about this book I am sure she will interview the author. I bought several copies of this book to give to my friends. So can you!

I read 'Maid to Order' in preparation for hiring my first full time made. Even though I'd previously had part time help, I felt overwhelmed by the responsibility it entails. It's a no nonsense guide to managing a maid and your household. The experiences and advice helped me put things into perspective. Any qualms I had about mothers leaving their children and seemingly low wages have been squashed. She broaches subjects that you might be too embarrassed to talk about in the playground. Her personal anecdotes are entertaining and even though she has had some bad experiences, there is a strong sense of advocacy towards the helper. Overall, she prepares you for the worst and the best. 'Maid to Order' is a thorough exploration of hiring a maid in Macau. The main message being that hiring a maid is a business transaction and should be kept just that. I'm sure I will keep returning to the text for help. Thanks Ms Crerar.
