    B. Clay Shannon's A TRAIL FOR ALL SEASONS: WISCONSIN'S ICE AGE TRAIL IN WORDS AND PICTURES should be on everyone's Christmas or birthday list for the next year or so. This is a stunning and lovingly designed book with fabulous photographs and memorable quotations from classic authors such as Shakespeare, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Emily Dickinson, John Muir, George Washington Carver, Henry David Thoreau, Lao Tzu, Thomas Merton, Rachel Carson, Joseph Conrad, and many more. Some modern poets are also represented but not as many as one would have thought considering the scope of the book. Wisconsin's Tom Montag has several short poems, each adroitly matched with the photograph it represents. Each page is to be savored slowly and with appreciation for the wondrous variety exhibited in the photographs. Read this book and then get your hiking boots on and explore the Ice Age Trail for yourself!
