B. Elwin Sherman is a humorist/author living in the New Hampshire North Country, where he writes a syndicated humor column and often reinvents "the cottage industry survival kit." His books have gone largely unheralded, "because I do nothing to promote them. No one should ever have a legacy before they’re dead. Life is embarrassing enough without that." He first read Richard Gary Brautigan’s works in college, "when everyone else was lugging around Nietzsche and Kant for ballast. I kept In Watermelon Sugar in my hand because there was a tsunami on the horizon, and there I was without a beach umbrella."

What a great read! "In Watermelon Salt" transported me immediately back to the heart of the 60s~~ new discoveries every day, and so much to enjoy. This one goes down real easy--like a cold beer on a hot day--and leaves you with much to reflect on for days to come. If you remember loving Richard Brautigan, (and even if you don't), you will find this book a pure pleasure to read. It is not imitation Brautigan, but a recognizable homage to his wit and style, with this author's own voice clearly audible. If you are not already familiar with B Elwin Sherman's work, you will be pleased to discover this fine author in this book.
