As a family member I would like to thank you for having the courage to finally publish this book. Not only did you give richard and susan an idea of where they came from, you have answered a lot of sensitive questions for all of now have the answers to the questions that I have always been hesitant to ask I thank you. this book is a true testament to the charachter of yourself, skeets, donnie, punk, phylis, bonnie and all the others who managed to grow into some of the most caring people I have known, and for those who have not managed to over come their experience at the orphanage, I can now see why.

"Freckles and Dirt Roads" This book should be read by anyone interested in the welfare of children. Those who manage facilities housing children in groups should be particularly interested in how some children threaten and manipulate others to their detriment. Although the author of this book eventually triumphed over the appalling conditions he endured (violence, intimidation, rape, theft), many other do not have the intellect, friends or other resources to do so.
