A troubled housewife with a repressed memory, returns with her family to the place of her childhood when she inherits her grandmother's home. It seems relocating from Texas was a good move until they meet Dave, their tenant. At first, Peggy is disturbingly attracted to him. When he eventually climbs into her bed in the dark, her nightmare becomes a reality. What follows is a case of psychological blackmail that will swing the door to her past wide open and drive her to the brink of sanity. Her tormentor, Dave, is a serial killer that delights in the exploitation of women. The idea of torturing one of his victims long term fascinates him. He is determined to play the cat and mouse game to the end. This story is told from five perspectives: Peggy, Jay, Jamie, her grandmother and of course, the sinister Dave. It begs to answer the question: could a family really survive anything? Can love conquer all?

This book was an amazing read for sure! I could not put it down! The look into the unimaginable life of Peggy and the strength and patience of her amazing husband Jay. Then there is Dave, who I at first found intriguing but as the twists and turns of events unfolded I realized that he was nothing but a sick sadistic man! It is definitely a must read!

Krowicki has created a page turner that is almost impossible to put down. It is just as frightening as it is intriguing, and each page has a new surprise that leaves you on the edge of your seat wanting more. Multiple points of view allows you a glance into the thoughts of broken Peg, sweet Jay, innocent Jamie and evil Dave and see just how deep into the family structure a tragedy can infiltrate. With each frightening twist and turn, there is the comforting undertone of a family’s concern and love. Krowicki is able to find humor and lightness, even in the most disturbing moments which is a great balance with the intense themes of the story. This is a great read, I would recommend if 10/10.
