Focus for this study was the performance impact of adding the accommodation of interpreting services, and investigated to what extent the deaf employees could attain the 70% accuracy standard set by a federal agency for a required web course. The hypotheses for this study stated that completion of web-based instruction will improve work performance and that the course taken alone (without an interpreter) is less effective than when aided (with an interpreter). Because of this study, it was recommended that deaf employees be able to complete an alternative evaluation, such as work performance, have more supervisor input, and use the E3C © evaluation instrument to diagnose and remediate email errors. Implications for enhancing web-based on-the-job training (OJT) for deaf employees with the accommodation of interpreting services are described.
