Much has been made of this word. Academics cannot quite agree on what it means. But the very fact that coherent, clear, logically consistent moral narratives have all but disappeared from the "post modern" (as I call it, the "postrational") Academy, words need to be directed at the overarching context in which this disappearance (was it a kidnapping? Did Reason die? Is it sick?) happened. This is my contribution. The net is that I define Deconstruction as "the consumption of one narrative by another". Regrettably, the narrative provided is that of latent and often overt incoherence, from which we can infer a headlong flight from the responsibility of rational engagement with an often violent world. You can never say nothing. You can never fail to choose. This short essay addresses these points.
