Bartosz has struck the right balance for programmers who want to understand some of the mathematics behind our adaptation of category theory for programming. The book doesn't exactly make the concepts easy; these concepts are still highly abstract and challenging. However, he's given me intuitions that I simply missed while trying to wade through the more detailed and proof-oriented books for mathematicians. If you find the Haskell examples too difficult to follow, there are github projects where people are porting the examples to other languages, like Scala.
