Author Frederick Wilcox once said, “Progress always involves risk. You can’t steal second base and keep your foot on first.” I asked my Introduction to Graphic Design class to embrace risk and move outside their comfort zones, and they rose to the occasion—a testament to their level of commitment and resolve. Most people seek environments where they can stand out and shine, rather than embracing situations that will push us outside our comfort zones where we risk isolation, embarrassment, pain, and uncomfortability, but this is what I asked my class to do in order to generate the content for this book.
