"An Engaging, Enjoyable Adventure Novel" There was a time when Hollywood had real class, and had a real good time making truly fun stories for audiences to indulge in. That was the day of the serials, which were action/adventure/suspense/mystery films cut into small chapters. Each chapter ended with a cliffhanger, spawning that particular phrase in popular culture. What Ben Grimes does in "The Curse of Thule" is the same thing that Steven Spielberg and George Lucas did in the "Indiana Jones" films; they update the serials' style of storytelling, cliffhangers and all, and mix with it more engaging characters and a heartfelt story arc as the backbone. As with the aforementioned hollywood movies, "The Curse of Thule" succeeds at updating that simpler, more romantic framework into a richer, meatier story. The writing does suffer, however, from becoming bogged down in the details, which slows down the sometimes frentic pace. This can be both a... More > blessing and a curse, however. I give this 4/5 stars, and recommend it.< Less
