I had the great bounty of sitting next to Betty Bausch-Polak in the Tel Aviv airport, and then on the airplane to Amsterdam. What a marvelous example of human dignity she is! Having just celebrated her 96th birthday, she proceeded to share with me an incredible story of resilience and grace that is her life. At the end of the flight, she gave me a copy of this book, which I read avidly on the next leg of my flight. This is an important powerful addition to the small body of Holocaust literature available, giving all a reason to believe in the power of humanity to rise above the evil in the world by doing good. My deepest respect to these two sisters, still alive, and to their parents, victims of the Holocaust, for teaching them to be fully human. I can heartily recommend this book to young and old alike.
