A great story I could totally see modified into a television series. The book started out with a bit too many details for me to keep track of at first, but much of this general back story is needed to further understand the mental and emotional state of the storyteller for later stories in her book. It picks up to a nice speed as you continue to read and get a feel for her writing style, like listening to a friend speak of memories while you share drinks on the porch, making you want to know what happens next in her tale. I would love to see an extension of some of the trips she took and more tales of what happened while "on the road"(in the air). You will laugh, cry, blush, yell, cheer, and shake your head about the author and people that play different roles throughout her story. I am interested to see how the rest of her story plays out.

Such a fun to read book. I so enjoyed reading about my good friends life. I cannot wait to read her second book. I so enjoyed reading about her life as a stewardess. What an adventure she lived. She really did tell us what was behind her always beautiful smile!! To tell you the truth, I kind of wish I had gone to Flight School and lived that life!!!

With this book, Beverly Golden Cuevas brings back many fond memories for anyone who served in that bygone era of the airline industry. It is a smooth and easy read.

Excellent. Beverly Golden Cuevas has written an outstanding new book: Behind Her Smile: The Adventures of a Tall Girl from WVA and her Life as a Stewardess. In my opinion she is an incredibly gifted writer. As one of her classmates in high school I am transported accurately back to the 1960’s in her first few chapters. She brings us back so faithfully to that period in our lives when we were feeling and discovering so many new things including finding our own independence and each other. Many of the men in the class still get together regularly and the new exciting topic has been Bev’s book. We devour each page as it fills us with memories of that period in our own lifetime and in our own history. She writes of our dreams and also our insecurities; and quite frankly about her sometimes complex relationships during those times with her family and classmates, men and women, teachers and parents. As the book continues Bev’s life as a flight attendant unfolds and we are taken behind the... More > scenes to glimpse the life of one of the world most seemingly glamorous careers during the 1970’s: the airline stewardess. She tells it all: flight schedules, layovers, pilots, crew and customers. She tells of her difficult long distance relationships and new relationships that can be started in the short hours of an airplane flight. She knows celebrities: athletes, movie stars and Elvis! Despite the glamour Bev experiences tragedy and tells the story of dealing with loss and rebuilding herself and her life. The book is excellent and a fascinating read. It will also make you smile: some of the best airline jokes ever told. The author is working on the sequel; we can’t wait!< Less
