The only rulebook you will ever need! While retroclones are a dime a dozen nowadays, I can tell you this one is a cut above the rest. This is the One Ring of RPG rulebooks. The PDF is free, so see for yourself.

The [ahem!] Cyclopedia has always been my favorite edition of that fantasy roleplaying game many people grew up playing in the 80's and 90's. Although I've managed to get my hands on a couple of used copies, they're hard to find, and often expensive. If I wanted to run a campaign based on that ruleset, I was in a bit of a pickle! My players couldn't reliably get their mitts on the book, and I was leery of sharing around my hard-gotten copies. (One, in fact, even *I* don't open, in anticipation of my for-play copy falling apart some day.) Into this void came Blacky the Blackball and his amazing effort to reproduce the essence of the White Book in his really impressive Black Book. The hardcover printing is really amazing quality (thanks, Lulu!), especially considering the price. Something this solid, that so neatly recaptures my treasured game system, really ought to be worth more. BUT: Blacky is sworn to a vow of poverty (or, more likely, non-litigation), and so we get it for 26 bucks.... This a really enjoyable tome to just sit and browse through. Dark Dungeons is remake of a very popular Boxed and Cyclopaedia versions of the ultimate role playing game. It's totally complete with extra rules to allow the playing of Mystics as a PC and demi humans can now reach high levels. The author has also thrown in rules regarding fire arms and flying ships which were used in many later gaming accessories. Very importantly the game includes rules for the play of Immortals characters - the PCs ascend to actually become gods! Other retro clones in this genre focus mainly on lower level play. The art is curiously consistent with itself, drawing upon 19th/18th century woodcuts which give the game a very unique atmospheric, almost "bible", look, but for myself its the assemblage of so many rules in one place which make this Old School RPG Gold! The hard cover version is solid and mighty and sits well with old and new hard back RPGs on the gamer's shelf. The PDF is free to...
