I love showbiz autobiographies and I particularly love showbiz autobiographies that take you behind the scenes or give you the inside gossip. "The Gag Trade" does both. It didn't take me over long to read and I laughed out loud (in an empty room) in two places. And I have finally found out who wrote one of my favourite jokes ever - which somewhat bizzarely is about J Edgard Hoover but did give me something to say in my O' Level History paper - although does this mean I now owe the joke's author royalties?
