Thirteen years of public school education at Washington, Franklin and what is now West high school, 10 or more years doing radio at KYSM and KTOE, a year of awesome opportunity at KEYC-TV, followed by 10 years as the Head DJ of the largest nightclub in downtown Minneapolis, and public access cable TV broadcasting in Minneapolis and Mankato, in sickness and in health. All of that was supposed to prepare me for an exciting mid-life career change of bringing Internet to so many thousands, even tens of thousands, in Mankato and rural southern Minnesota. Competition, lack of realization of the value of monthly Internet service by isolated rural neighbors who saw TV ads for cheap Internet service in big cities, government that wasn’t capable of regulating companies that over-stepped their authorized bounds, rapidly evolving changes in technology, individuals who couldn’t or didn’t want to keep up... created a deeper and deeper morass of failed opportunity.
