Like someone who is deceptively fast....this work sneaks up on you. Looking at the sparseness and economy of words one would be tempted to not look for more than what is on the page. However, like the West Texas Desert where the poet haunts, there is much more than meets the eye. Desert dry humor, sharp in wit, and completley open and honest writing about himself and the world around him, running out of fear is an impressive compilation. For anyone looking for Shakesperian Sonnets...look somewhere else (thank God for that!). This is raw, unfiltered life with a tenderness and vulnerability that let you know you are reading an honest work that is written the way the poet wants it written. As for the title....It depends on the context of "running"...read it and you decide.
