Danse for solo guitar; 2008

ByBrandon Coleman

This small character dance for guitar is quite tuneful, and a challenge to play. The voices move around on the inside, while a familiar melody carries the piece forward. The goal is to play this with a steady tempo without getting carried away and losing the upper voice. Some of the chord voicings may seem dissonant at first, but the “wrong” notes are merely passing by. I composed this piece in the Winter of 2008 not only as a personal challenge, but to please the listener as well.
